Megha + Dillan’s Wedding Day
Some wedding days feel like an entire world of emotion, color, and celebration; and Megha + Dillan’s beautiful South Asian wedding at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center was exactly that. From the quiet, sacred moments of getting ready to the explosive joy of the baraat and the magic of the reception, every part of this day felt rich with tradition, family, and connection.
The morning began in the soft light of the suite, where Megha slipped into her breathtaking deep red lehenga embroidered with gold details. The weight of her jewelry, the softness of her dupatta, and the way her parents lovingly adjusted every part of her ensemble created such a tender scene.
There was this calm stillness in the air; the kind that comes right before a life-changing moment. As she stood near the window with her veil cascading behind her, it was impossible not to feel the gravity and beauty of the day about to unfold.
If there’s one thing that brings a surge of energy to any South Asian wedding, it’s the baraat- and this one did not disappoint. Music, dancing, laughter, and movement filled the space outside the resort as Dillan’s friends and family celebrated in full force. You could feel the excitement pulsing through every frame, and capturing that joy is something I’ll never forget.
The Gaylord’s iconic atrium created the most stunning backdrop for their ceremony. Natural light poured in from every direction, illuminating the aisle lined with fresh white florals and greenery. Guests filled the space in beautifully vibrant attire, creating a breathtaking palette of color and culture.
One of my favorite moments was when Megha began her walk toward the mandap; her red lehenga glowing against the serene white floral setting while family and friends looked on with so much emotion in their eyes.
Their ceremony blended heartfelt rituals with joyful celebration. From the garland exchange to the sacred vows and blessings, each tradition felt deeply personal to them.
And then came the moment everyone waited for: the couple stepping into married life, hand in hand, with the biggest smiles on their faces.
As the sun set, the couple changed into their reception outfits; she in a shimmering ivory ensemble that sparkled with every step, and he in a classic black tux.
Their entrance set the tone for the entire evening: glamorous, joyful, and entirely them.
The reception space at the Gaylord lit up with modern florals, glowing candles, and a dance floor covered in low-lying clouds during their first dance. The backdrop behind them- lush, dreamy, and romantic, created a scene straight out of a fairytale.
Later that night, we stepped outside for some dreamy, motion-filled portraits with the National Harbor Ferris wheel glowing behind them. These images felt cinematic and intimate; just the two of them soaking in the magic of their first night as husband and wife.
This day was a photographer’s dream. Not just because of the stunning decor, colorful attire, or gorgeous venue, but because of the people. The way families cared for one another, the way friends cheered for every moment, and the way the couple looked at each other with absolute joy made every image feel alive.
The Gaylord National Resort offers the perfect blend of natural light, grand indoor spaces, and outdoor access, making it an incredible venue for South Asian weddings. But it was the heart behind this celebration that made it unforgettable.
